The dialogue and thoughts expressed are those that the actors came up with while living in the wilderness, imagining themselves as Civil War soldiers. Filled with beautiful camerawork and a meditative study of the Civil War era and its characters, Minervini offers an interesting new approach to discussing the aimless and terrifying journey of soldiers who wonder and observe their environment and the battles of war.
Strong sound design, natural performances, and camerawork help to establish the tone, atmosphere, and setting
Including good direction used throughout, and some of the battle sequences are well directed and presented. Although some of the dialogue ends with an unpleasant feeling that sometimes destroys aspects of realism.
I guess I’m a bit pretentious lol
Overall I found it interesting its beautiful and mediocre approach to the civil war. I know many won’t like this one but I really like it.
